Award Motivation

The award is made to Prof Kareem for his sustained and outstanding contribution to the discipline of research engineering over many years, in terms of both fundamental research and in its application. In particular he has made extensive contributions in the study of dynamic wind loading on buildings and bridges, the simulation and modeling of wind effects around a variety of structures, and in the development of new methods for codification and standardization. He has published widely in a variety of wind engineering journals and has made many conference presentations, including a number of keynote lectures. He has served on a number of code committees and on the IAWE Executive Committee.
